Nikon D60

Nikon D60 Summary from dpReview:
"Highly Recommended... It's still one of the most affordable cameras in its class and it represents the perfect 'upgrade' camera for anyone who has outgrown their digital compact camera and is looking to dip a first toe in the world of the digital SLR. Its output is consistently good (the JPEGs are excellent and its raw files have lots of dynamic range headroom), it's a pleasure to use and, handles well and weighs very little. And as I've stressed throughout this review, it makes getting pleasing results incredibly easy."

Which lens?
If you don't already have a lens, we recommend the 18-55mm Lens Kit (prices below) as it's a lot cheaper than buying them separately.

Nikon D60

Nikon D60 Camera

A number of features developed for high end Nikon models have found their way into the Nikon D60. The 3D Colour Matrix Metering and Expeed image processing are both hand me downs from bigger, more expensive brothers. The camera is able to take 3 frames a second up to a maximum of 100 JPEG images. Shutter speeds range from 30 seconds to 1/4000 seconds and when set on hi mode the sensor can deliver an equivalent of ISO 3200. Noise control is excellent up to ISO 800 and the Expeed processor works effectively to reduce noise to an almost invisible minimum even on the highest sensitivity setting.

The Nikon D60 is the first Nikon camera to incorporate a dust reduction system. A common complaint of Digital SLR users, dust on the camera’s sensor causes shadows on photographs and must usually be removed by a professional technician. The Nikon D60 Camera uses an air flow control system. The system makes no noise and is invisible..

The camera also features Nikon’s Active-D Lighting feature. This helps considerably when taking pictures in conditions of high contrast by opening up shadows. This feature can be used while shooting or can be used to alter images later within the camera.

The Nikon D60 is fully compatible with Nikon AF-S and AF-I lenses. While it fits other Nikon lenses the D60’s body includes no internal AF motor and so requires the lens motors to work when it is actually focusing. This could cause problems for those switching from Nikon film cameras.

The pop up flash of the Nikon D60 digital camera is effective at 12 meters in ISO 100. It is adaptable to a number of modes including red eye reduction and flash exposure compensation.

Tickle Me Elmo live

Elmo Live is the next evolution of Tickle Me Elmo. Actually it's made by a different company and it's completely different but it's Elmo so in that way it's the next evolution. Tickle Me Elmo was a very successful toy over the last 12 years. It was the most wanted toy the year it first came out and Elmo Live looks set to follow in Tickle Me Elmo's footsteps.

In case the Nikon D60 doesn't quite have something you're after, you might be interested in the Nikon D3. It'll cost you 5 times as much as a D60 but you'll be amazed by the results of the Nikon D3.
